I started Letters to Fred because I tend to see the glass half full, and I want to give that outlook some thought.
There is an extraordinary amount of knowledge, ability, and possibility in the world. I’m interested in what we can do with it. I think people have more to offer than we sometimes give each other credit for, and that paying attention can give us good reasons to be hopeful.
Writing gives me a way to slow down and work through an idea beyond my first reaction. There is already plenty of reporting on what happened today. Here, I want to make connections, question assumptions, and think about what could come next.
My hope is that something here gives you a reason to pause, a different way to see a familiar subject, or a thought worth bringing into a conversation.
